Actor Lannette New is thrilled to announce that her television (and screen!) debut in the CTV production of "Plague City: SARS in Toronto" in which she played the supporting role of "Rosie", has won two Hugo Awards from the Chicago International Film Festival, including Special Achievement - Acting: Cast Ensemble.

Originally from Victoria, this now Vancouver based actor grew up on the stage. Lannette became "hooked on acting" when she was cast in her first acting role as Mrs. Claus in her grade 2 theatre production.

Lannette was involved in music and dance from a young age, performing in many shows as a dancer and a singer. A highlight was when she danced in the David Foster Celebrity Softball Game. In addition to singing and dancing, Lannette completed her grade 8 level of piano in the Royal Conservatory of Music with First Class Honours.

Lannette moved from Victoria to Vancouver in 1993 and expanded her musical theatre experience by performing in shows such as Miss Saigon (The Arts Club), The King and I, Lucky Stiff, Honk!, and many others. Her love of acting led her to pursue her career in film and television. An early experience was singing in the Anne Murray 2002 Christmas television special.

Now represented by Lloyd Talent, Lannette is continuing her involvement in the musical theatre community while pursuing her film and television career.
